lcal - a new era in leasing

When Boeing unveiled its well-conceived and audacious development of the 787 Dreamliner, a ground-breaking twin aisled composite aircraft, LCAL identified an opportunity to commence a unique leasing operation dedicated to this enterprising single wide-bodied long haul product:

  • The 787 offers a 20% saving in fuel burn, at least 30% reduction in maintenance costs and up to 45% extra cargo revenue, as well as improved all round passenger comforts and environment.
  • Its operational ranges and capacities were designed to provide more 'non-stop destinations' and higher frequencies, addressing both passenger preference and the airlines' need to respond to growing bilateral activity and regulatory liberalization.
  • Finally the 787's new composite based structure, standardised interior configuration and engine interchangability provide a combination of extended useful economic life, and remarketability, which offers unprecedented appeal to the financial community.

LCAL entered the aircraft leasing market at a time when, the operating lease content of the global fleet was steadily rising but, both the lease content of the wide-bodied market as well as the level of speculative orders for this category of aircraft were inadequate.

LCAL believes that the 787 Dreamliner, with its technological step change and critical timing at a juncture when airlines are due for re-fleeting, has already established itself as a "best in class" and sets a new standard in the future for commercial airlines in the midsized, medium and long range, market. A future that brought with it a unique opportunity and that LCAL is proud to be a part of.
